This weekend believers from the Ethiopian Diaspora are expected to gather in Washington, D.C. for the 50th anniversary of the Ethiopian Evangelical Churches Fellowship (EECF) in North America. This witness of churches, united and empowered in Christ, envision extending God’s Kingdom through Ethiopians in the Diaspora and their homeland. This event will attract approximately 15,000 attendees to celebrate this significant milestone.
Mobilizer and Amharic Language Coordinator, Letekidan (Leti) Gebremariam, will be in
attendance representing Simply Mobilizing (SM) USA in partnership with Dr. Markos Zemede, the founder and leader of the Horn of Africa Mission. A ministry that has been instrumental in helping to build a U.S.-based mobilization team of Amharic-Tigrinya-speaking leaders. In a great show of teamwork, leaders have been diligently meeting to pray together and partner in resources to translate Simply Mobilizing courses for Ethiopian churches as a mobilization tool. Dr. Markos reflects:
"As we celebrate 50 years, we see God’s faithfulness as a people. We want the future to be marked by our commitment to the Great Commission and our impact on global mission. This is our time to make Jesus known among the nations."
Horn of Africa's ministry presence includes many countries in North and East Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Leti, a native Ethiopian, has previously used Kairos as a mobilization tool there. She has been in the United States for the past few years, and now diligently and passionately networks using Interface and Kairos to help participants transform their biblical worldview and identify their calling in God’s missional plan. Building a team that sees a vision beyond their local church.
There is much to rejoice and celebrate having the Ethiopian church here in America and our prayers are with our brothers and sisters as they gather together. This exciting and momentous occasion is just the beginning of seeing God’s heart for the nations play out through all of God’s people, and the awakening of Ethiopian mobilizers.
