First SMUSA Spanish Kairos Launch

Simply Mobilizing, in collaboration with the Eastern Mennonite Church, hosted the very first Spanish Kairos course in the United States, in Lancaster, PA. Wow! What the Lord did that week of an intensive Kairos course was amazing!! It was five days where the Spirit of God showed again while we gathered with open Bibles and open hearts for God’s calling to be in mission with Him.

At first, there weren’t enough sign-ups, and we weren’t sure the course would take place. After prayer from a group of the facilitator’s, thirteen participants registered 2 days prior to the course—pastors, missionaries and leaders from different countries or areas: US, Argentina, Colombia, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Canada, Ohio, New York and Connecticut. God answered our prayers and glorified himself in having participants from different areas of the globe. Definitely, not what we expected.

Several confessed right away they didn’t know what the event was for, they were either told to be there by their leaders or didn’t know what to expect, but that’s where God does His best work. By the second day, you could see something shifting. The same people who entered reluctantly were now asking questions, even sharing testimonies of how God was working with their hearts in doing more as a disciple or going across the nations for the unreached people to know Jesus. One participant said, “I’m glad I was almost forced to come because it has been a blessing.” The Holy Spirit took hard soil and turned it into fertile ground - all was because God’s grace poured out and He moved the hearts amongst the participants, and the team in Lancaster.

At the Kairos course, we worshiped together, prayed together, out poured prayer for the nations, many times laughed together and cried while the Holy Spirit moved on his behalf. Tears were also present as we realized God was calling us deeper than comfort, deeper than routine on bringing the name of Jesus and His Great Commission to others across our communities and the World.

By the end of the five day course, there was a sense of fulfillment of being faithful to teach what the Lord asked of us. I knew seeds had been planted in many hearts to do more. This brought me joy to witness the very first Spanish Kairos in the United States, joy that pastors and leaders weren’t leaving satisfied but hungrier. They wanted more training. They wanted to bring discipleship back to their churches. They wanted to see missions become the heartbeat of their communities or countries.

That week, the Kairos course wasn’t just about one course. It was a declaration that God is moving among Spanish-speaking churches in America.

He is raising up leaders who came reluctantly but left transformed. God is showing us that discipleship is not optional, but central to who we are as His people. He is calling us to open our churches, our tables, our lives, so that mission becomes our way of living. He is reminding us that this is the kairos moment that many leaders and churches have been praying for - specifically what I’ve been praying for, that the Spanish churches in the US walk in Mission with God.  I invite other pastors, leaders, churches and Christ-believers to join us in walking with us through this journey and witness the greatness of the Holy Spirit through Simply Mobilizing. The harvest is ready and it’s the perfect time to reap.
